Whittaker Marketing | Who's Who and What's What
Sharon Whittaker - Queen Bee/Owner
Born with a knack for communication, there isn’t anything else Sharon would rather be doing with her career than helping her clients communicate with their customers.
A graduate of Auburn University, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in French. Early in her career, Sharon found her niche in public relations and marketing research as a team member with Market Strategies International in Columbus, Georgia. There, she served as an account manager and worked on seasonal marketing campaigns with Callaway Gardens and Tom Mann Outdoors.
Later as Marketing Director for McDuffie Regional Hospital in Thomson, Georgia, she developed external marketing materials, including new logos and promotional material for the hospital and its fitness facility Health Link. She also honed her skills in public relations and customer service and served as a direct liaison with the Hospital Board of Directors and the Scholarship Board.
After joining Langstaff Marketing of Albany, GA in 2001, Sharon went global, putting her love for international business to work as an account manager for JLA Global. The company offered technical and consulting services for the food industry. She networked with associates from Argentina and China while overseeing the development of the company’s logo, brochure and website. While at Langstaff, she also provided public relations services for other clients and managed projects such as website and trade show booth development.
When a family move led her to Dothan in 2007, Sharon continued to maintain her client list and learning her new market. She worked with the renowned Norma Hanson and Associates (University of Alabama Hall of Famer), marketing guru and genius. Upon Norma’s semi-retirement and with her blessings, Sharon decided it was high time she started her own marketing and public relations company. And since she knows how to make things happen…Whittaker Marketing was born.
An active member of Westgate Church of Christ, Sharon belongs to the Women’s Ministry there. She also maintains a busy volunteer life as the 2010 Class President for Leadership Dothan while also serving on The Downtown Group Board and The Houston County Women Republicans Ways and Means Committee. She and her husband Howard have three children, Gracie, Spence and Avery.

Amy Meyer - Image Expert/Buzz Builder
A native of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Amy planted her roots in the tourism and hospitality industry at an early age while working in the beach community of Seaside and then at the four-star WaterColor Inn & Resort in Santa Rosa Beach.
In college, she combined her real-world experience with a passion for public relations, graduating from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and a minor in Hospitality, Recreation and Resort Management.
Thanks to a stellar performance as an intern with the City of Gatlinburg, Tennessee Department of Tourism during her senior year, she had a position waiting for her as Public Relations Coordinator. There, she came up with creative solutions for the city’s website, served as media liaison, and planned press tours and special events to promote the mountain destination.
A move back home to the beloved beaches of Florida led her to the Beaches of South Walton Tourist Development Council, where she helped promote the 26-mile stretch of beach first as a Publications Editor/Designer and later as a Sales Associate. In the Publications Editor/Designer position, she designed collateral for the destination, communicated with the stakeholders and worked closely with advertising and internet agencies to create solutions for the destination. Later she worked as a Sales Associate where she traveled to target market areas promoting the groups and meeting markets.
In 2009, Amy moved to Dothan to serve as Marketing Manager for Country Crossing, where she built awareness of the entertainment destination through marketing collateral, e-blasts, and special events. When Country Crossing closed its doors, she worked with the marketing team at the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music & Arts Festival.
As the newest marketing consultant with Whittaker Marketing, she is putting her extensive skills to work building client brands and promoting them in the local and global community.
In addition to her passion for photography, Amy loves traveling. As a member of the Dothan Area Young Professionals, she plans to work with other community leaders to promote the Wiregrass area. She and her husband Bryan are looking forward to building a life and a family in Dothan.
